What is "seasoning" and what does "preseasoning" mean?

Seasoning is simply the buildup of fat or oils that have baked into the pan and become a polymerized, natural, nonstick cooking surface.

By preseasoning our pan at our factory, we created its base seasoning — which means that it’s ready to use right away. But its nonstick performance will get better the more you cook with it.

Are these pans oven-safe?

Yes! The pans are oven-safe up to 572º F / 300º C.

Can I cook high-acid foods in them?

Small quantities of acidic ingredients, such as wine or vinegar, are acceptable for use. However, we advise against cooking large quantities of acidic foods, like tomato sauce, as they can lead to the breakdown and deterioration of the seasoning buildup.

Is Preseasoned Carbon Steel as nonstick as a traditional nonstick pan?

Yes and no.

A natural seasoning develops as fats accumulate and bake into the metal, enhancing the pan’s nonstick properties with each use. In contrast, traditional nonstick coatings degrade over time, even in the highest-quality pans.

When cooking with carbon steel, we suggest using a bit of cooking fat and ensuring the pan is adequately preheated over medium heat before adding any fat or food.

How do I clean it?

Cleaning is simple — we suggest using warm water and a non-metallic brush or scrubber. Adding a small amount of soap is fine and won’t harm your seasoning, but don’t use abrasive sponges or steel wool. Always ensure thorough drying after cleaning to prevent rusting.

Please note, it is not dishwasher safe.

Are the pans induction compatible?

Yes — our Preseasoned Carbon Steel is compatible with all cooktop surfaces, including induction.

Which countries will you be shipping to?

We will have worldwide shipping to all backers except for the following countries:

Russia, Myanmar, Ukraine, Yemen, and Sudan.

All orders will be shipping from our warehouse in Denmark.

What will the shipping costs be?

Shipping will be charged via PledgeBox after the end of the campaign during the survey period. Estimated shipping prices are shown in the shipping section of our campaign page. These costs are estimates based on the information currently available and will be charged through PledgeBox.

When and where do I provide my shipping info?

Once the project is successfully funded, we will reach out with a survey via PledgeBox to request all of the information needed to fulfill your rewards, including your shipping address. We will post updates on the campaign as surveys become available. Additionally, we will reconfirm your shipping address before shipping.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

After the Kickstarter campaign ends, Kickstarter will charge you for your pledged amount. If there are any problems with your payment method, Kickstarter will reach out to you to have the issue corrected and your payment charged.

I used my Apple ID and did not receive my survey. What can I do?

Please email us at [email protected] with your full name and backer #. Apple ID does not recognize Kickstarter and is a known issue. If possible, please try another email address. Please refer to Kickstarters support page for more help.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
